European Erasmus Project

Previously projects were part of The Comenius programme. The name has now changed to Erasmus, but is still funded by The British Council

Once again, The Dales School is involved in a project working with colleagues and schools from other countries.

We have been, continuously, involved with a number of projects with schools throughout Europe since 2005. As a result staff and children have visited: Slovakia; Germany; Austria; France; Italy; Spain; Southern Ireland; Denmark, and ; Turkey.

Our current project, working with specialist schools from Spain, Gran Canaria and Germany, began in September 2015.

In this project we are working with colleagues to consider how we can better engage and improve learning opportunities for children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition. Initially by considering the value of the outdoors, specifically sensory gardens before moving onto consider the other senses and the part they play in learning and independence.

To date, staff from The Dales have visited Spain (Lleida, near Barcelona) and our Chair of Governors broke off from her holiday cruise to visit our partner school in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

The project will last until September 2017 and, during that time, staff will visit and host colleagues to further develop their skills and knowledge.
