Survey re: Community Activities for Children with SEND

10th May 2021Glynis Burn

Parent / Carer Survey re: Community Based Activities for Children with SEND

Dear Parents/Carers

We have been asked by Northumberland County Council to support our parents & carers to take part in a survey.   This is to give them a better understanding of the difficulties that children with additional needs have, when accessing out of school activities.

This is your opportunity to share your experiences (good and bad)!!

The type of community based activities, which they are looking at are:

  • Football Clubs
  • Swimming Lessons
  • Sports and Leisure Classes
  • Brownies
  • Scouts
  • Youth Groups

A covering letter from Northumberland County Council will be emailed to you, and will also be available on our facebook page.

The letter will lead you to a link which you can use to express your interest if you wish to take part in this survey.

We hope that you take this opportunity to ‘have a voice’ and raise awareness of this shortfall in provision.

Many thanks

Glynis Burn                                         Tracy Henderson

Financial support for families in receipt of music tuition

10th May 2021Lee Wilkinson
Music Partnership North recognise that everyone has been affected over the last 12 months. We are committed to supporting as many students as possible continuing with their musical journey and easing the financial burden that many families are facing. Through funding received from the Arts Council Cultural Recovery Fund, Music Partnership North are providing a limited amount of financial assistance to families who have been directly affected by Covid-19.

If a family member has either been made redundant or had their hours reduced resulting in a significant reduction in income, they can apply for assistance to support their child continuing to learn to play an instrument or sing. They can also apply for funding if the type of lesson you want to sign up for is unavailable e.g., you wish a shared lesson but there is no one to share with. This tuition must be delivered by Music Partnership North and any money awarded will be used to fund the lessons and will not be paid directly to the family. To qualify the child must have been in receipt of tuition over the last 12 months through Music Partnership North, on any instrument.

To apply parents must complete a short application form. This information will only be used for the purpose of deciding how much financial support we can offer and will not be shared with any third party.

Please click here to access the application form.

If you require any further assistance, please contact Fiona.Johnstone@northumberland.gov.uk
