The Dales School is a happy, successful school and every child, parent and member of staff play their part in making it so. We aim for an environment which enables and encourages all members of The Dales community to aspire to great things in order to be happy, fulfilled and successful. For our children to gain the greatest benefit from their education, it is vital that they attend regularly and every child should be at school, on time, every day the school is open unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.

Please follow this link to read our attendance policy.

If your child is absent from school, we would request that you contact school by telephone or email to explain the absence. The school may contact you to ask for an explanation of absence. If we are unable to contact you, then a letter will be sent home asking you to complete with the reason for absence.

It is important that parents inform School about the reasons for their child’s absences.

Please note that any absence from school without a valid reason is regarded as unauthorised.

On occasions where we believe there may be cause for concern, the Educational Welfare Officer may be called upon to help.

In the case of an emergency closure, a text message will be sent from school to the mobile number you have supplied.

The Head Teacher will also contact Radio Newcastle and Northumberland County Council to inform them of any closures.
