Thank you to Cllrs Grant and Susan Davey for coming into school to hand out special medals for the Queen’s jubilee. The medals were donated by Blyth county council. The children were very excited to receive them. We even had a special guest driving the train. We would also like to thank Blyth council for funding our Jubilee party at school. We all had a great time.
Huge congratulations to our new Rebound Therapy team. Everyone passed the 2 day course this week, meaning we have an opportunity to roll out this great therapy to even more of our Dales children. Our team will create bespoke pupil profiles, engage children in sensory regulation and enjoy intensive interaction sessions amongst a lot of fun.
Well done our bouncing buddies. We look forward to regular online updates to see our new, improved school Therapy offer.
We have had a very busy successful July with a lot of work taking place.
Thank you to Morgan Sindall, NCC and the Cadets for helping clean the train and also for the work in the school garden. Thank you to Morgan sindall ground control for cutting back the large trees in the garden. The garden is looking amazing and the children were amazed to see how beautiful you had made it.
The Cadets worked very hard moving all the train seats from the garden as well as cleaning and mopping the train.
Thank you to everyone involved, particularly Reemer for organising the groups of volunteers, we are extremely grateful.
This week in outdoor learning we have looked at Eric Carl and his amazing art work. We read his book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We then went on to design and make our own butterfly, looking at symmetry and even made our own Eric Carl art work. In the Garden we explored insects and bugs under a microscope.
This week in B9 we have been learning all about the famous photographer Edward Weston. The children were given cameras and were allowed to explore the school, taking pictures of things they found inspirational.
This week in B12 we have been looking at our favourite healthy meals!! We’ve made the meals out of clay and salt dough and we’re going to paint them when they’re dry. We’ve also looked at how much sugar is in our favourite snacks and drinks.
This week in Beech class, we learned all about famous inventors from history. We learned about Leonardo da Vinci and the many inventions he was able to design. We also researched about some of the inventors who aided in the discovery of electricity and the creation of the light bulb, such as Thomas Edison and local inventor Joseph Swan. Did you know the first house in the world to be lit by a light bulb was Swan’s house in Gateshead?
This week B14 have been learning all about the famous photographer Edward Weston and his amazing photographic art. The children have been all round school taking inspirational photographs from what they see and eat (healthy snacks), so the adults around them can see how they view the world. They have taken some fantastic shots and we can’t wait to put them together in their portfolio. But here is a sneaky peek!
